why do all these bike maintenance vids insist on following the manufacturers torque settings then tighten up with a plain allen key anyway…..?

How many things can cause a squeek coming from the headset/stem, I only hear it when I am off the saddle climbing… I thought it was the crank, but it was tightened.

Thanks

thats what i said . they cant spin

fearghal007 November 21st, 2009

The starnut cant spin in the steerer! If you ever installed or spoke to someone that has installed one, they will tell you how tight inside the tube they are! Of course you can move one but it will take quite a lot of force!

another good tip for bmx rs… take a warn tyre cut the metal ring out both sides. cut 1 inch of the tyre fit into a new (good tyre) fit inner tube and put on wheel. garenteed no puntchers. unless you ride over a feckin big nail

just a reminder, when you are tightening the two bolts on stem, make sure you turn the screws one turn at a time so that the torque is distributed evenly on both bolts. cheers!
